Code Purple

When the harsh weather meets the criteria of 10°F or colder, or ice, snow, and wind are judged by The Salvation Army to be severe, The Salvation Army will provide over-night emergency shelter services for up to an additional 80 individuals. There will be signs of Code Purple posted by the entrances of N. Orange Street and West 5th Street of The Salvation Army building. The Code Purple Program male guest will enter The Salvation Army building through the main entrance at 400 N. Orange Street and the female guest through 104 West 5th Street entrance. The guest will be welcomed inside after the other program activities are completed, which will be 9pm. Shelter guest will be required to leave the facility before the Child Care Center opens at 6:30am.

The Salvation Army gymnasium is set up in an open dormitory style to house our men visitors and the emergency residence is set up for women and children under the cold weather emergency stipulations. Snacks will be provided each night we open this shelter. The snack will consist of hot soup and/or sandwich and beverage, and will be served in the evening. A continental-type breakfast will be offered in the morning. Shower facilities will be available during specifically-scheduled times based on staffing patterns, guest volume, and meal schedules.
