Holiday Assistance

Christmas is quickly approaching. The need continues to be great and for that reason The Salvation Army is getting things in motion early. We have various ways to bring a merry Christmas to those we can help, but we need your help in doing so.

Our Red Kettle Campaign, our most familiar and visible tradition, has already begun virtually but soon volunteers will be out ringing bells daily through December 24 (except Thanksgiving and Sundays). Unfortuantely, we will not be able to have as many locations as in the past due to the restrictions brought on by the pandemic. Therefore, our Virtual Red Kettle Campaign is critically important. The Salvation Army also distributes toys, clothes, and other gifts. With your support, The Salvation Army is able to work Christmas miracles for thousands of needy individuals and families each year through its various holiday programs and services.

Dover/Kent County

2021 The Salvation Army Dover Corps Christmas Assistance Program

The following information is for residents of Kent County ONLY.

The Salvation Army church office in Dover helps families residing in Kent County, Delaware, by providing Christmas for their children ages 12 and under. Because of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, our Christmas program will remain as contactless as possible again this year. Individuals in need of Christmas assistance can call the Dover office at 302-678-9551 to complete a Christmas application via telephone on the following days:

Monday, November 8th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tuesday, November 9th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Wednesday, November 10th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thursday, November 11th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Friday, November 12th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

When calling to complete an application, applicants must have all accurate contact and income/expense information for their entire household, as well as full names, and ages of  children 12 and under, available. This information will be verified on the applicant’s scheduled distribution day.

REQUIRED ITEMS FOR ALL CHRISTMAS APPLICATION VERIFICATION:

∙  Photo ID for applicant

∙  Birth Certificates for children ages 12 and under

∙  Most recent utility bill addressed to applicant (elec., gas, oil, etc. to verify address/residency)

∙  Proof of income (pay stubs, SS, SSI or SSD award letters, state assistance letters, etc.)
