Make Change This Christmas

Food Baskets 

We will be providing Holiday Food Baskets for families in need in our community. To sign-up and see a list of specific food needs, visit www.timetosignup.com/salvationarmyhbg/ and click on “Donate Food Baskets for Thanksgiving & Christmas 2017.”

The Giving Tree - CLOSED (See giving options below)

Host a giving tree in your group location, company or store. The Salvation Army Harrisburg provides “angel tags” for your tree, with gift suggestions and needs for specific local children. Your employees or group members purchase tag items to make Christmas special for a local child.

Adopt-a-Family - CLOSED (See giving options below)

Choose the size of a family you would like to “adopt” for Christmas (ex: single mom with two children). Shop, purchase and wrap gifts from the family’s “wish list” and provide a holiday food basket or gift card. For a personal connection, you can even deliver the gifts to your adopted family yourself!  

Adopt-a-Senior - CLOSED (See giving options below)

Christmas isn’t just for the kids! Adopt an area senior citizen in need by delivering a home cooked holiday meal or food basket. Supplying a small gift is also optional.

As an alternative to the programs that have closed, we will still be accepting new, unwrapped toys. For more details, see the General Toy Drive letter

Gift Packing & Distribution - CLOSED (See giving options below)

Volunteer between December 12 - December 21 to help sort, pack and distribute toys and clothing for over 3,000 gift boxes. For more information and to sign-up, go to https://www.timetosignup.com/salvationarmyhbg/.  Select "Pack & Distribute Christmas Gifts - Volunteers 2017."  Most dates, volunteers will be sorting toys and packing gift boxes; however, Friday, December 15 & Thursday, December 21 are distribution dates.

Ring the Bells! 

The official Red Kettle Season begins on November 10 and runs through December 23. What better way to plan a team or group activity than ringing the bells at an iconic red kettle for the Christmas season! There are many ways to get involved: Staff a red kettle, host a desktop kettle in your office or sign up for the 5th Annual Battle of the Bells Competition. To sign up for bell ringing, visit www.timetosignup.com/salvationarmyhbg/.  Bell ringing shifts will be posted in mid-October.
