Schedule: Full Time
Position Description: The Early Childhood Education Teacher (ECECT) will plan, implement, instruct and assess for the long term success of the ECEC; will utilize the curriculum as a foundation for lesson planning and assure there is healthy and safe environment for the children and families served. The ECECT will engage in positive and professional parent/child/staff relationships. The ECECT will keep records and complete reports which ensure that standards of excellence are maintained. Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements: The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, school-age care, child development or other child-related field; will consider individuals with an associate’s degree in early childhood education currently working towards a bachelor’s degree. A minimum of one year on-the-job training providing a nurturing indoor/outdoor environment and meeting the child’s out-of-home needs. One plus years experience under qualified supervision working as a teacher serving the ages and developmental abilities of the children in care. A valid certificate in pediatric first aid, including CPR is required. Thorough knowledge of normal child development and early childhood education, as well as knowledge of indicators that a child is not developing typically is essential. The ideal candidate will display sound judgment and emotional maturity. Must have an appreciation for and be able to embrace the Mission of The Salvation Army.
