This year’s Salvation Army Harrisburg Annual Civic Event, May 2, 2019, Hershey Lodge, will honor two outstanding community leaders while also providing an educational opportunity for area youth.

Keynote speaker, Mark Butler, Chairman and CEO of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet will receive the Spirit of Endeavor Award as he shares his story of mentorship and enterprise that began with one Mechanicsburg store in 1982 and has grown into a publicly traded chain of over 200 stores in 22 states.  This is a special opportunity to hear the inspiring story of a local entrepreneur who has changed the face of retail.

Kathleen Pavelko, President and CEO, WITF, will also be honored with The Salvation Army Others Award for her extraordinary service to The Salvation Army as advisory board member and Chair of the Steering Committee, overseeing The Salvation Army’s construction of a new service and worship in Harrisburg. Kathleen’s efforts will positively impact the live of families in Harrisburg for generations.

With a Celebration of Enterprise theme, the event will also provide an opportunity for selected Salvation Army kids to participate in a pre-event Enterprise & Entrepreneurship workshop with local business owners.  It’s a great hands-on, up close and personal opportunity for our students – it can be life changing!
