SALVATION ARMY RECEIVES OVER $12,000 DONATION FROM ABELOFF BUICK GMC KIA AND NISSAN
(Monroe County, PA - August 8, 2012) - Abeloff Buick, GMC, KIA and Ableloff Nissan have made a donation of $12,815 to the East Stroudsburg Corps of the Salvation Army. Major James Gingrich, Commanding Officer of the East Stroudsburg Corps said, "We are so very fortunate to have the support of the business community in Monroe County. Abeloff partnered with us to raise funds to purchase much needed food supplies over the holiday season. We thanked them for their efforts with a Certificate that recognized them as donors to the East Stroudsburg Corps at the rank of Colonel - the second highest in Salvation Army Giving."
Major Gingrich continues, "We are grateful to friends and organizations in our community such as Abeloff, who are providing faithful support to our food distribution which makes it possible for us to serve families and individuals struggling to make ends meet. Many of our residents are not keeping pace with increased costs of food, gas and heating fuel in our area."
Abeloff Buick GMC KIA and Abeloff Nissan have been part of the Monroe County community for over 55 years. During that time they have experienced success and wanted to find a way to partner with a local community service organization. Jason Motts, spokesperson for Abeloff said, "We are deeply grateful to the residents of the County for giving us the opportunity to serve them. The holiday season is a time of joy and celebration for most but far too many friends and neighbors are feeling the tough economic times. We wanted to give back and created a program to make that possible."
Abeloff offered a promotion that saw $50 from each vehicle sold and $5.00 from every oil change donated to the fund for The Salvation Army. Through the kind support of customers, employees and management, Abeloff was able to raise $12,815 for the Corps. The giving of the recent plaque recognizes these efforts.
The Salvation Army believes that in times such as these, the community will step forward and lend a helping hand to those who need it most. "We've been doing this work for over 100 years. We're not going to turn away any deserving neighbor now, and thanks to businesses like Abeloff, we will continue to be able to make that possible" says Major Gingrich. He concludes "The Salvation Army plans on doing the most good we can with the gifts we receive to help those in the greatest need in our community."
