COVID-19 RESPONSE - UPDATED 4/20/2020
Something to cheer your day from our New York Staff Band!
To ensure we are meeting the most pressing needs of our neighbors while mitigating risk, The Salvation Army has suspended the Senior Action Center, Family Store, homeless shower program, and church activities/youth activities until further notice. Worship services will be live streamed.
The Social Services Office will conduct all assessments over the phone. All appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling 717-249-1411 x.128. No clothing vouchers or household vouchers will be issued until the Family Store is able to reopen. The Social Services Office will offer distribution of the YWCA's Pad Pantry until their offices are reopened. Donations of personal care items, particularly conditioner, toilet paper, and feminine care products, are needed for distribution to clients! Other needs top include disinfecting wipes, disinfecting spray and gift cards to Giant and Walmart. To limit contact, please take a look at our wish list on Amazon! All items will be shipped directly to our offices: http://a.co/hyFsioW
The Senior Action Center is offering it's members bagged lunches that can be picked up between 11:30-12:00 each day at the Senior Center. Members of the Senior Center can sign up for a meal the day prior by calling the Senior Center at 717-249-5007. To pick up your meal, drive into the parking lot on Pomfret Street and line up your car at 11:30 AM. Do not get out of your car! Roll down your back window and a volunteer or staff member will place the bagged meal on your backseat.
To prevent clients from congregating in enclosed spaces, My Brother's Table is offering "to go" meals instead of the usual, sit-down breakfast and dinner. Remember, the breakfast program is only for homeless individuals but anyone in need is welcome to join us for the evening meal at 4:30 PM. Please remember to leave 6 feet of space between yourself and others when lining up to receive your meal!
Carlisle PA Strong is a group of volunteers coordinating meals with local restaurants and donating them to My Brother's Table. Thousands of meals and hundreds of sweet treats have been provided over the last three weeks! To support their efforts, click here.
The Carlisle Area School District is offering all students (free, reduced, and full pay) the opportunity to order a school breakfast and lunch, at no cost, during school closure. For more details and to sign up, click here.
The Salvation Army's Family Store is a tremendous financial support for all of the programs offered by The Salvation Army. Each week the Family Store is closed will result in $5,000 in lost income for the Carlisle Corps. Please consider making a financial contribution to offset this loss. You can give online here, or mail a check to 20 E Pomfret Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
We anticipate the demand for our services to increase substantially after the health crisis has abated. The majority of our clients are hourly wage earners who will be most impacted by loss of hours and employment opportunities. Please keep us in your prayers - for wisdom, resources, health and discernment - as we serve the most vulnerable in our community now and always. Thankful for you, our friends, committed staff and a God who is bigger than any virus! Please consider making a financial contribution now so that it can be used when most needed. Thank you!
