COVID-19 UPDATES - UPDATED 11/03/2020
Our Family Store, located at 469 E North Street in Carlisle, is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Senior citizens and those at high risk are invited for a special shopping hour from 9:00-10:00 AM. Donations are accepted from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM on days that the store is open. Donations will be sanitized and processed on days of closure to ensure the safety of our staff and customers. Please recognize store capacity limitations. We ask that if you are bringing clothing, that it only be fall/winter clothes. We are unable to accept the following items: TVs, upholstered furniture, items with padding/stuffing (including mattresses, pillows, comforters, and sleeping bags), and baby items that may be subject to recalls such as cribs, strollers, and car seats. Volunteers are needed to help sort clothing and sanitize donations. If interested, please e-mail Marsha.Bates@USE.salvationarmy.org. Please remember to practice social distancing while shopping. We hope to see you soon!
To ensure the safety of our staff and clients, the Social Services Office is conducting all assessments over the phone. Appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling 717-249-1411 x.128. Donations of personal care items, particularly conditioner, toilet paper, and feminine care products, are needed for distribution to clients! Other top needs include disinfecting wipes, disinfecting spray and gift cards to Giant and Walmart. To limit contact, please take a look at our Amazon Wish List! All items will be shipped directly to our office!
The Senior Action Center is offering its members bagged lunches and frozen meals that can be picked up between 11:30-12:00 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Senior Center. Members of the Senior Center can sign up for meals the day prior by calling the Senior Center at 717-249-5007. To pick up your meal, drive into the parking lot on Pomfret Street and line up your car at 11:30 AM. Please stay in your car, roll down your back window, and a volunteer or staff member will place the meals on your backseat.
For the health and safety of our guests at My Brother's Table, we are serving all meals "to-go" style in our parking lot and asking everyone to practice social distancing. Remember, the breakfast program is only for homeless individuals but anyone in need is welcome to join us for the community meal at 4:30 PM Monday-Friday, 12:00 PM Saturday, and 5:00 PM Sunday. Please remember to leave 6 feet of space between yourself and others when lining up to receive your meal.
Please keep us in your prayers - for wisdom, resources, health and discernment - as we serve the most vulnerable in our community now and always. Thankful for you, our friends, committed staff and a God who is bigger than this virus! Please consider making a financial contribution now so that it can be used when most needed. You can give online here, or mail a check payable to The Salvation Army to 20 E Pomfret Street, Carlisle, PA 17013. Thank you!
