The Doctrines of The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army's eleven articles of faith reflects the Army's determination to remain faithful to its standards and principles. Soldiers (including officers of all ranks) are urged from time to time to re-read the solemn undertakings to which they have set their hand and to reaffirm before God their dedication to Him and to His Army.

1. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and that they only constitute the Divine rule of Christian faith and practice.

2. We believe that there is only one God, who is infinitely perfect, the Creator, Preserver, and Governor of all things, and who is the only proper object of religious worship.

3. We believe that there are three persons in the Godhead - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, undivided in essence and co-equal in power and glory.

4. We believe that in the person of Jesus Christ the Divine and human natures are united, so that He is truly and properly God and truly and properly man.

5. We believe that our first parents were created in a state of innocency, but by their disobedience, they lost their purity and happiness, and that in consequence of their fall, all men have become sinners, totally depraved, and as such are justly exposed to the wrath of God.

6. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has by His suffering and death made an atonement for the whole world so that whosoever will may be saved.

7. We believe that repentance toward God, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary to salvation.

8. We believe that we are justified by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and that he that believeth hath the witness in himself.

9. We believe that continuance in a state of salvation depends upon continued obedient faith in Christ.

10. We believe that it is the privilege of all believers to be wholly sanctified, and that their whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

11. We believe in the immortality of the soul, the resurrection of the body, in the general judgment at the end of the world, in the eternal happiness of the righteous, and in the endless punishment of the wicked.

Las doctrinas del Ejército de Salvación

Los once artículos de fe del Ejército de Salvación reflejan la determinación del Ejército de permanecer fiel a sus normas y principios. Se insta a los soldados (incluidos los oficiales de todos los rangos) a releer de vez en cuando los solemnes compromisos que han asumido ya reafirmar ante Dios su dedicación a Él ya Su Ejército.

Número 1: Creemos que las Escrituras del Antiguo y Nuevo Testamento fueron dadas por inspiración de Dios, y que ellas sólo constituyen la regla Divina de la fe y práctica cristiana.

Número 2: Creemos que hay un solo Dios, infinitamente perfecto, Creador, Conservador y Gobernador de todas las cosas, y que es el único objeto propio del culto religioso.

Número 3: Creemos que hay tres personas en la Deidad: el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo, indivisos en esencia y co-iguales en poder y gloria.

Número 4: Creemos que en la persona de Jesucristo se unen las naturalezas divina y humana, de modo que Él es verdadera y propiamente Dios y verdadera y propiamente hombre.

Número 5: Creemos que nuestros primeros padres fueron creados en estado de inocencia, pero por su desobediencia perdieron su pureza y felicidad, y que a consecuencia de su caída, todos los hombres se han convertido en pecadores, totalmente depravados, y como tales son justamente expuesto a la ira de Dios.

Número 6: Creemos que el Señor Jesucristo, por su sufrimiento y muerte, hizo expiación por el mundo entero, para que todo el que quiera pueda ser salvo.

Número 7: Creemos que el arrepentimiento hacia Dios, la fe en nuestro Señor Jesucristo y la regeneración por el Espíritu Santo son necesarios para la salvación.

Número 8: Creemos que somos justificados por gracia mediante la fe en nuestro Señor Jesucristo y que el que cree, tiene el testimonio en sí mismo.

Número 9: Creemos que la continuación en un estado de salvación depende de la continua fe obediente en Cristo.

Número 10: Creemos que es privilegio de todos los creyentes ser enteramente santificados, y que todo su espíritu, alma y cuerpo sean preservados irreprensibles para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

Número 11: Creemos en la inmortalidad del alma, la resurrección del cuerpo, en el juicio general del fin del mundo, en la felicidad eterna de los justos y en el castigo sin fin de los impíos.
