The Salvation Army Mission Regarding HIV/AIDS

Today in the United States an estimated 1,039,000 to 1,185,000 persons are living with HIV/AIDS. This website contains information on Salvation Army Resources and information on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States.

All four Territories of The Salvation Army USA have made it a goal to work on HIV/AIDS – particularly in the area of HIV testing and linking people with HIV to care and treatment. The Eastern Pennsylvania-Delaware Division led the charge for this effort, beginning the work in 2003. This website serves as a gateway to information and resources on HIV/AIDS for Salvation Army officers, frontline staff, and clients.

The Salvation Army was founded over a century ago to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of those with the most need. At The Salvation Army, our mission to serve leads us to

-- has led us to minister to those living with and at risk for contracting HIV. As evangelicals, we have challenged ourselves to take up this issue – and are continuing work across the entire United States, in all of our Territories and Regions. Often it is difficult, but where there is need, we must remain active and persistent.

As a part of the community of Christ, we welcome you to look through the material on this website, familiarize yourself with HIV/AIDS, and get tested. If you are HIV-positive, it could save your life. We welcome anyone to attend and participate in any of our programs or worship services, without fear of discrimination.

The Salvation Army welcomes you.
